Puerto Vallarta is gaining international acclaim for its exceptional culinary scene. The foundation for this thriving culinary landscape was laid by visionary European chefs like Thierry Blouet, Roland Menetrey, Bernhard Güth, and Ulf Henriksson, who introduced fine dining to the region.
Café des Artistes was named Best Consolidated Restaurant in Mexico at the 2023 Food and Travel Awards, and Trio received a nomination in the same category in 2024. The Gaviotas restaurant at the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Center earned the AAA Four-Diamond certification and was recognized as the Best Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant in Latin America at the World Culinary Awards. Other notable achievements include A Mar y Sierra receiving the 2025 Diner’s Choice Award from OpenTable and ICÚ being included in the Mexico Gastronomic Guide 2025 for the fifth consecutive year.
Beyond individual restaurant recognition, Puerto Vallarta hosts major culinary events like the International Gourmet Festival, celebrating its 30th anniversary this November. The festival will feature over 60 chefs, 30 restaurants, and 20 wineries, offering a unique gastronomic experience. Other events like Vallarta Nayarit Gastronomica, Restaurant Week, and various food and drink festivals further enrich the city’s culinary calendar.
