New Traffic Solution Underway for Nayarit-Vallarta

Jalisco Governor Jesús Pablo Lemus Navarro recently announced the commencement of construction on a new traffic node designed to alleviate the notorious bottleneck between Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta.

The project will feature a two-lane vehicular bridge facilitating smoother traffic flow from Puerto Vallarta towards Bahía de Banderas. This infrastructure improvement aims to significantly enhance connectivity between state highway 544 and federal highway 200, streamlining travel between Jalisco and Nayarit.

The new road node is being built at the “Las Juntas Crossing,” located north of Puerto Vallarta, near the Nayarit border. This intersection, where Francisco Medina Ascencio Boulevard meets the old road to Ixtapa (now the Mascota highway), is a daily chokepoint for approximately 116,000 vehicles, including both tourists and local residents.
