Chico, the first photo is a little bit dated as it shows the cruise ship berths as they were just as the expansion project was in its initial phase. The second photo is a manipulated projection (ie. using Adobe Photoshop) as to how it might accommodate the ships once the two new berths are fully functional. Note that all three of the cruise liners are the same one from the same cruise line. Note too, that only the ship on the left of the second photo is actually moored by lines. The two new berths are well on to their scheduled completion. When the ship we were on, the Diamond Princess, tied up on Tuesday February 13, I could see that the concrete berths are completed and painted. The disembarkation and administration buildings are yet to be built. Landscaping needs to be installed as well. It appears that removal of construction equipment and site clean up are underway. I hope this clears up any mis-impressions generated. kind regards, Wills

Chico is just trying to point out what it is now and what it probably will end up being. Like everywhere else, present facilities are overcrowded and need improvement which means more taxes, loss of green space, etc.

Good post and info Chico . I often wonder what the ratio of tourists that arrive by air or land is vs sea . So often we read on the board about cruise tourists coming back for a longer stay in PV . Laurie and I used to watch the TV show Love Boat and when we saw the PV dockings - we knew that was where we would go someday. :)
