How many have Puerto Vallarta Vacation plans for 2008..2009

Just curious :) How many have plans to go to Puerto Vallarta or other areas in Mexico 2008 and winter 2009 for a vacation ?..

When are you planning to go and where will you stay and for how long ?.. :)

What helps you make your final decision on the place you choose to stay at...
Price?... location? amenities etc ?

Bringing the family back 7-18/7-25....cant wait. This will be our 9th or 10th trip to PV! Went to Cancun in Feb of this year and will probably not go back. The water was beautiful but nothing compared to everything else PV has to offer! Thanks to Toms reviews, we will be returning to the Crown for a 2nd time. Love both the GCP and the CP.
Anyone else staying at the CP in July?

All being well, I will go down in mid-October for about 6 weeks, return to Canada for Christmas, then back to PV with Dave in time for New Years and stay through the end of March. And of course we will be staying at Condo Ibiza.

going back down to our condo may 19-jun 2 then back down again mid october to mid november for day of the dead and my birthday. back down again next may after high season.

Connor and i took mom and dad to P.V. last Dec. They had never been before and they had an absolute fantastic time.
Their 50th Annniv. is next April and all they want for this occasion is another trip to P.V. So my sisters , theire families, Connnor and i are taking them back the first week of May next year for 2 weeks. My sisters have never been beofre, so it will be great for them also.
We are staying in Bucerias. Mom and dad love that little town, so we will be staying at the Royal Decammeron.

going back in a couple few weeks and will return again for ten days in the months of july, august, september, november and december. not so much a vacation, more work, but still a grand time.

As you all know we stay at the Golden Crown Paradise and currently we are booked for Thanksgiving week in 2008 and back again in February 2009... And we have already spent two weeks there back in February 2008....

we keep coming back here because of the staff (friends and family) that we have met over the 11 yrs we have been coming here... Feb 2008 we completed our 14th consecutive vacation to this resort... we have met so many wonderful people at this resort, as well as people from this bulletin board (Ellen and David, Joyce and Fred, Sandy and Fred, JRO, Redd and her mom, and on and on and on.)

we are looking at 4 days in HUATULCO at the end of january for a friends wedding and then move onto p.v. for 2 weeks and we are still undecided as to where we will stay, in old town like last year or if we will go to bucerias.We are also thinking of taking the kids and if we do then we will stay in bucerias.We will have to wait and see how the summer goes.We pick the places we stay at by location and price and so far have never been dissapointed.

Just recently booked my 8th stay at the GCP for Nov. 5-12! I returned from a Mexican Riviera cruise with stops at Cabo, Mazatlan and PV 2 weeks ago and while it was a really good trip I realized that I would have rather spent the whole week in PV.

October for a week with my 4 year old. And then 2 weeks in May 09 with buddies to get our El Tigre golf fix in.

I will be in PV in the month of July for a week. I will be staying at my favorite place the Golden Crown Paradise. This will be at least my 10th time there I think. I cannot wait!!! I plan to do the same in November. I might stay much longer depending who is elected President.

Coming in Mid October for 3 weeks. 25th year in a row. Never get bored or disappointed in PV.

will be in p.v oct 27 till nov 3 2008 then back again nov 14 till nov 28 2009 for our wedding :D

I know its time for a PV trip when we are missing the time shares and beach vendors - NOT ! :lol: We are thinking about early Jan /2009 . I hope it happens because I want to take a Whale tour . :)

sjl330, I too understand what you are going through. My Dad died on May 4 and my Mom last July. I retired on May 28 and left for PV on May 30. It will do you a world of good to get away and clear your mind.

Well thank you....... If fuel costs dont come down this might be last time for awhile. The price for airfare was 1/3 more than in october of last year.

We booked a 5 nite stay at the above for around $900 pp from Minneapolis. We booked about 2 weeks ago. Hope the resort opens on time and the airline is still in business then. We switch planes in Dallas, same airline, and have 70 minutes between flights. Hope that is enough time. We have not been to the Pacific coast before. Went to Playa del Carmen a couple of years ago. Looking forward to the trip!!

Just booked a 10 day trip. Staying at Los Arcos Suites. Airfare up a little from last time and Alaska has eliminated the mid-week direct, non-stop flight from Portland to PV but they maintained the return flight.

Bucerias 7/27. Punta Arena. Brand new condos. :)

Probably Canto del Sol in Feb. 2009, depending on the prices. Usually travel in a large group.

thanks, shirley Shirley, welcome to the board. Meza del Mar is an older hotel and you may have some issues with that, depending on what you paid and what you are used to. But it is in a great location and all the ingredients are there for you to enjoy yourselves. You can do a search on this forum by hotel name that should give you more info. I have never stayed there so anything I say would be hearsay.

I know I was thinking that...Are there any direct flights? It seems like you kind of end up traveling all day for one of these cheaper flights and having at least one stop over. It is not that far to drive to Minneapolis. A lot of my friends fly out of Fargo.

yeah, we waited until the last minute to book too..we booked Nov 17 and left Dec 3.. $650 a person for the week..it would have been cheaper yet but we needed 2 rooms. Hopefully we can find a good deal like that again..it would be just the two of us this year.

We are definitely going... If the better half really wants to impress me she could pay for a week for both of us this November as a birthday present for me, and in turn I just might surprise her with another week during the winter. Prices seem to be coming down...

Driving down starting October 25th from Alaska. Will arrive in Nuevo Vallarta to our condo the very end of November....Fly back to Alaska for 2 weeks in January...then fly back to our condo until April 9th.

Hi sherry we used park plaza last year in jan they hold your car for up to 3 weeks and you have to stay one night and when you return its an optional stay.It was only 130 dollars a night and they shuttle you to and from the airport it is a really nice hotel.But I just priced the hotel this year and there up to 164 dollars a night.Where did you find your flight and is that with hotel.I cant seem to find any deals out of minneapolis this year.Last year we paid 750 air and hotel direct and the cheapest I am finding this year is over a thousand for direct.

Its done we booked 2 weeks AI at costa club punta arena.We leave jan.16th until the 30th.Now the count down begins :D

The first time I went to Mexico i was 20. I went to a little place called Pie de la Questa outside of Acupulco. It was amazing!! I have been in love with Mexico ever since and Puerto Vallarta is my favorite. You will have an incredible time and travelling alone will not be a problem. It is so friendly. There are solo travellers everywhere in PV. My girlfriend, my sister and sister-in-law have all travelled solo for years and love it!!

stayed next to club meza del mar last year - yes, it is an older location
and not a 5 star, but we visited with many meza guests last year; most
in the 50-80 yr. old range who were annual guests and love it.
hotel is rite on beach and has beachfront snackbar/bar with great service.
we arrived early last year and purchased cocktails and snacks from their
beachclub for a couple of hours while waiting for our room to ready.
very nice.

Our first stop is for 8 hights in a really great bed and breakfast in Rincon de Guayabitos, then back to PV fro the rest of our stay at a condo in the Zona Romantica. We travel to Mexico every year, (fingers crossed) with my sister in law and her boyfriend.

i will not be in PV this October. :( First time in 5 years. but I will be there twice in 2009. I will be on my honeymoon in July staying at velas near marina (any tips about this resort?) then back to lapalapa Condos in October with the gals. I love this site. it makes me feel like i am there.

We will be down Feb 28 for two weeks. We always are at a timeshare located at Sheraton Buganvilias. It is so convenient to the Malecon and we do enjoy walking and browsing all the shops. We try to get out to several of the restaurants in the area. We also enjoy the food at the Sheraton.

We have done most of the things that I think my knees will withstand. We have looked at doing some of the tours, but they seem to be pretty pricey. We walk down to the flea market and would like to find more places like that, but I doubt we would play a couple of hundred dollars just to be bused to other places.

We do not buy a great deal, but always run across some interesting items that we do come home with. Last year, my wife chose a necklace and ear ring set from a vendor within the resort property. I would never purchase from the beach.

I would suggest a bus trip (local and cheap) for a day trip up to Bucerias and do their market...very friendly, much more laid back, and a little better prices and more of a willingness to haggle.

Bucerias is a wonderful little village...enjoy!


P.s. a local bus ride south to Boca de Tomatlan is a great cheap ride, grab a seat on the beach under a Palapa- cheap beers and cheap eats.

We are coming down in 3 weeks, and will stay at the Tropicana the first week, then rent a car and explore south. Hopefully, also a few days in Yelapa. I can hardly wait to get back. Does anyone know if Arcano is still playing in the square in PV in the evenings?

I plan to come down in April 2009 - not during Mexican spring break - and also for three weeks in July.

This marks my 29th year visitng the most beautifl vacation spot.

I bought a condo five years ago (for the price I could have bought a mansion in 1980)

Still love to go to CHez Elena and El Nido for the greatest view in town. Love the food at El Repollo Rojo and sunset cocktails at El Tropical.

Always love visitng my hijiado in Pittillal.

I would never purchase from the beach.


I was wondering why also? Most of them do buy from the same place but I have \"MY\" silver vendor that works on the beach and makes all his own jewelry. Besides selling on the beach, his jewelry is in several jewelry stores (for sale on a commission basis). I have gotten some really unique pieces from him and every year when I get down there he has something special to show \"me\" that he has made and thinks \"I\" will like. The best part is....he takes credit cards. :D :D :D :D

Just booked our airline tickets last night out of Detroit. Paid $403.00 each for 4. Looked today and they jumped $125.00 each ticket. Phewwww.....

We will be staying for an extra couple nights this time around (our 6th trip to PV in the last 6 years). We will arrive Monday after Easter Sunday 4-13-09 and return home 4-22-09.

Bringing the boys again (11 & 18, 3rd time for them) and staying at Villa Del Palmar for 3rd time because we really like the resort and the location of it. I heard Gigante either changed names or was bought out. Now called Sariano???

Looked today at exchange rate and it was over 14 pesos per US dollar. WOW I hope it stays up there or we will have to buy some early to take advantage of exchange rate.

Sick of the cold here in Michigan and want to get to warm and beautiful PV. I just shoveled my roof today UGH!!!!

Have tickets that were purchased at the height of the flu scare for August and again after Christmas for 3 weeks.

There are lots of us going down in Oct..BUT, the prices are ridiculous. Maybe its still a bit too early. The Buenaventura is quoting $140 AL that crazy.
Are the businesses doing well down there? Lots of tourists?

Hate to wish my life away, but i cant wait, its gonna be great. first leg to okl. city ok. then on to san antonio tx. cross the border early the next day and staying in zacatecas for a day then off to our family home in colotlan jaisco. staying there for a week or so then on to our 8 hr drive to pv..its gonna be fun!( ellen and joyce,if you love chorrizo ill bring some down from colotlan. i think the butcher there makes the best) .....Robert

July 30th to August 11th and Nov 5th to the 15th and if I can find some cheap fares then a quickie in Oct.

October 17 - December 9 and then again around December 28 to April 30-ish.

Hi Robert, I saw where you will be driving down from Chicago. We will be driving down from St. Louis for the first time in December. We are planning on crossing at Laredo. Is that where you will be crossing? We are very excited! It will be so great to have a car with us in PV.

Usually at this time of year my husband Bill and I are checking for deals to Mexico..Not to be this year..Hopefully in the Spring... :)
