best place to get a tattoo

ya man, getting a tattoo in Mexico is insane. There are tons of stories in newspapers across the nation of people getting serious diseases including HIV from getting ink done in Mexico.

THATS VERY NARROW MINDED. SHAME ON YOU. THE PROFESSIONALS I USE HERE ARE 100% SAFE. I WOULD SUGGEST YOU SCEPTICS CHECK THESE PLACES OUT BEFORE YOU PAINT EVERYONE WITH THE SAME BRUSH. JUST BECAUSE A BUSINESS IS IN MEXICO, DOES THAT MAKE IT INFERIOR TO THE STATES OR CANADA. NOT IN MY EXPERIANCE. CHEAPER YES.

Despite the fact that a few people on this board want to try to boost the PV economy, on this matter you need to think about yourself. At least in the U.S., if you get some sort of disease/infection from a tattoo artist, you have grounds for a legitimate lawsuit. In Mexico, you are out of luck.

You must be out of your mind. Do you have a death wish????? Most everything in Mexico is not regulated. What makes you think that tattoo parlors are regulated. Go ahead, get yourself a tattoo in Mexico, probably along with some kind of disease, probably AIDS, and come back and infect everyone you come into sexual contact with. You must be a real idiot.

Jennybean makes some very good points as do others here.
The most disappointing thing Ive seen here so far, though, is the issue of money. This is something very personal that you will be living with for the rest of your life. Saving a hundred bucks by getting it done hundreds or maybe thousands of miles from where you live, is not worth it in my mind and should not even be a consideration.
There are fantasic tattoo artists to be found (through diligent research) in any major city in the world. I would much rather be able to haunt a local tattoo parlour, chat it up and check out the quality of the tats of people coming out of there. That and close proximity for future touch-ups or complications, make the extra 100 bucks well worth the money.
Also, if its the novelty of getting it done in Mexico that appeals to you, the issues raised about sun and chlorine are very valid. Why get it done there if half the point of being in Mexico (speaking for myself here) is to enjoy the elements; the very things you need to avoid immediately after getting a tattoo?
