We are a family of 4 travelling with 4 big suitcases. Are the trunks in the cabs big enough to fit our luggage? How much more would it cost to take a van?

Re:Taxis at the Airport
You buy your ticket from the taxi window, ahead and to the right after customs, and when you go out the doors there are dispatchers. You will be given a van with a larger group for the same price.

Re:Taxis at the Airport
Taxi zones are set and listed at the taxi stands at the airport. A family of four with a lot of luaggae will need a larger van. I know where you are staying, but to have people give you ideas on prices they paid, you should list the zone or area you are going to.
Gone are the days when you could cross the highway and find a taxi for less, as they yellow taxias across the street are wise and ask infalted prices. I have even quote me MORE than the airport taxi!
The airport is Federal Zone, and they only allow federal plated taxis within the airport, thus, higher taxi prices. Coming back to the airport is less expensive, and you will need two taxi for that amount of people and luggage.

Re:Taxis at the Airport
Half the vehicles at the airport taxi stand are vans. As noted above, just tell the attendant you have four and they will direct you to a van, NOT a Nissan. We have 4 to 6 when arriving and never a problem. Same cost per pax. On return just take two taxis since much less anyway as BZY1 notes. No big deal, just a ride afterall.. Seems silly that so many worry about a few bucks to get to the hotel and then spend mucho on their drinks on the beach the next morning! AND, the taxi tickets are per-person, so if no van, two cabs will be the same anyway.
Re:Taxis at the Airport
PVR is a pretty organized place. Buy a taxi ticket from the booth (straight ahead after customs in the lobby before you exit) and you will be dircted to the lineup. Vans and taxis both (white in color from the airport - town cabs are yellow). The ticket window accepts US or peso as mentioned prices are set.
Re:Taxis at the Airport
whitey says \"the taxi tickets are per-person.\" we are staying at the marriott in the marina and have been told that it will be about $8 from the airport to our hotel. now is that $8 for my husband and $8 for me = $16 or $4 for my husband and $4 for me =$8. thanks.
Re:Taxis at the Airport
Last time we had a party of five, and taxi ticket was per person, so in your case they are saying $8 each. We paid $6 each. The dispatcher will try to group people to same hotel or area, but from the airport it is per person rate. Now, not to say that it could not change, but our last visit was in Feb. Others may be able to verify.
