taxi or car rental?

We will be staying at the Bahia del Sol in nuevo pv. Am wondering if I should rent a car to get around or if taxi or other means are the best way to get around.

Check out using the bus..Much cheaper and quite interesting.

The bus is fine during the day, but if you want to go to any clubs at nite you will not be able to get a bus back to Nuevo as the buses stop running at 11:00 p.m. and the last Nuevo bus I believe is around 10 p.m. Also depending on where you are in town, there are only 3 or 4 locations you can catch the Nuevo bus.
