Military Checkpoints

Just returned from PV and had a wonderful time with my family. One day we took a day trip to Sayulita and encountered militery checkpoints going and returning that day. Spoke with friends who had been down to PV a number of times and they had never seen these checkpoints. Anyone know if these checkpoints are now routine?

Not complaining or concerned, Just curious.

The check point has been there for as long as I remember, about 8 years.
Actually, there is one when you enter Nayarit, the big white building, but they moved the actual military check point (tent) further north maybe a year or so ago when they finished the road. I drive that road a lot and have never been flagged down.
