open container laws

What kind of open conatiner laws does PV have? Can you buy beer etc. and drink it as you walk through the city or sit on the beach, or is consumption limited to bars and restraunts and hotel rooms?

Most bars have a stack of plastic glasses precisely for this purpose at the door. Although I have seen young Mexicans being made to empty their beers on the Malecón, I have never seen a gringo stopped. As in many cases here, there may be a law, but it is winked at.

When I bought beer out of a corner store the clerk informed that it is illegal to sell bottles to tourists after 8 p.m. Of course she was telling me this as she was packing up my six pack in a bag.
