Why need insect repellant? Mosquitos?

What kind of bugs are in PV that we would need to wear insect repellant?

never seen a mosquito in PV. lots in ontario canada in the sommer LOL

Of all the times I have been to PV I have never seen a mosquito.

If your trip is during rainy season (approx. June-mid Oct.)and you go anywhere where there is lush vegetation, you will find mosquitos and as the previous poster said, they are a cut above the ones we usually see where we live. You will be glad you had some repellant. Also, some of the beaches, i.e. Boca de Tomatlan are known for their \"no-see-ums\" which will eat up your legs in the sand if not careful. Better be safe than sorry, unless you like scratching.

Thanks everyone for your input about mosquitoe. I will be going at the beginning of March so your bulletins say I should be fine. The no seeums are during the rainy season too... right? I have no plans to go into the jungle - just the beach and shopping. I got the idea about the mosquitos originally from an AMA (Alberta Motor Assoc) handbook about Puerto Vallarta.
