Transportation around Vallarta with a family of 8

Started February 23, 2009 · 3,116 views · 2 posts
In the past, my husband and I have used the bus system to travel around Vallarta, going from Nuevo Vallarta to Pureto Vallarta, and even beyond to the Zoo and Botanical Gardens. With two children and 6 adults, would it be best to hire a large van? Children are ages 4 and 1 1/2 years. Are car seats required in Mexico?

I think you are not getting alot of replies because hiring a private van in PV to take you around the city is going to be \"expensive\". You might ask at your resort when you get there if they can request a van taxi. There are a few around town. I rode in one in Nov. the driver spoke excellent english, was a really nice guy and took me by to get a picture of the fire station for no extra charge. If you can find one you can get the # of that taxi and try requesting that taxi when they call for a taxi for you.

Car seats are not required in PV, you can rent them down there but then when you get out of the taxi you have to haul them all over town with you, unless you can hook up with a taxi (maybe like above) that would let you leave them in the taxi and arrange to meet him or have him meet you at a specified time and location. Taxi drivers to that all the time for people going out to dinner, they will drop them off and then come back to pick them up at a specified time.

If you hook up with someone like that make sure you tip them...they are going out of their way to be of service to you and they deserve a tip.
