Get your luggage, push the light (red or green) in customs, go out the door, do not look at anyone, go out the sliding glass doors and you are home free! If the bank is open, and they have a short line, exchange money there, excellent rates! (BANK, not cambio) but do exchange some at the cambio for the taxi, as they may only give you 10 to one.

this time, ch uck is right. forget the line ups. we are in p.v. to do other things. we also just bring cash when we go. usually around $1000 u.s. ( but we have not gone a.i. yet. that way we try out all diff. restaurants. but for the bar bill i think we will be going a.i. this year. ) if we need more money the machines serve us well.
Re:The money situation...
A local bank has peso. We assumed that we should get some up front. Is this a good thing to do?

Having never been, I guessed at the following shopping list:

(20) 1 peso coins = $2.00
(20) 5 peso coins = $10.00
(20) 20 peso bills = $35.00
(20) 50 peso bills = $88.00
(10) 100 peso bills = $88.00

PV is so lame during summer! I work in mexico , 6 months out of the year.....and winter is the time to visit . as far as cash goes....contact your bank before you leave town. after 5 transactions at the ATM your card will freeze up. this is too protect you from people like me. have A goodtime and bring your rain coat.
Re:The money situation...
it would probably have been best for everyone to say how many people the $/day was for.
