I have never had a problem like this before!! (have been to Mexico 10+ times). While I was in Puerto Vallarta Dec23-Jan.6, I used my mastercard 6 times. At my hotel, chavas restaurant, discover rent-a-car,International Jeans on Morelos,Cafe Frankfurt, and La Surt del Puente on Insurgentes. Apparently, according to the mastercard people, someone is now using my mastercard # and has purchased several hundred dollars (Cdn) on my account. I am not liable, thank heaven, but has anyone else ever experienced such a thing?

Do you think the card was abused from being used in P.V. or can the bank tell you that.
Where do you stay in P.V.? We are leaving for P.V. on the 14th of Feb. for the 5th or 6th time. We used to stay in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, but this year staying in Bucerias.

Be cautious and wise when using your credit card anywhere - as sometimes theft can occur. It happens at home here in Canada a lot, and has occurred in Mexico too. Your best defense is to call your credit card provider BEFORE your trip, tell them what dates you will be there & tell them EXACTLY where you intend to use the card for the most part (ie: many of my friends only use their plastic in PV for things like hotel bills and doctors, and the occasional dinner), and that if any charges show up on the bill from elsewhere after you go they are to contact you prior to approving the transaction. This only takes minutes, and believe me, the credit card companies LOVE you for doing it; you save them thousands of dollars in fraudulent charges because of it.
