Should we rent a car?

We are arriving by cruise ship and will be in town for only a day. Looked up car rental prices and found them to be quiet reasonable to rent for one day. Is it a good idea. We were there last year and took the bus about but this time will have the kids with us. Would like to see more of the south area mismaloya and then drive up north also. Last time just hung about downtown. Wonder if just as easy to bus it about. Ps, is the cruise ship dock in the Marina or somewhere elso, can not remember, or just tell me the hotel that is the closest and I can figure it out. The car rental is also at the airport so I would have to get from the cruise ship to the airport to get the car and then back. Wonder if it is really worth all the hassle, Ideas????? Unless you are familiar with the routes and roads you are taking, take a cab or the bus. The traffic is crazy in PV. Some of the rules are different also, like the left turn lane etc.

The bus is a cheap way of getting where you need to go, taxis are inexpensive and are always readily available.

The Mayan Palace we are staying at is NOT in the Marina, but farther north. There are 2 Mayan Palace resorts. I did see some car rental options in the marina, try Dollar. We got a good weekly rate of $150 for intermediate w/air but it sounds like we should just take taxi cabs around?

We rent a car every time. My husband usually drives - he forgot his license last time so I drove everywhere. It was terrific & lots of fun. I drove downtown every day, all over the countryside & never had a problem. The car was a piece of crap, but once you got used to it, no problemo as long as you are aggressive.
