Rental car

I agree with Matt on everything he recommends. I rent a car every time I go down to PV for at least one day. I always rent at Mango Car Rental, across and north one block from the Sheraton. NEVER had any problems!! They will check the car over with you for scratches, dents, spare tire, jack, etc. Then they will check it over again when you bring it back. I have never had any mechanical problems with the cars, and their rates are VERY reasonable.

Just got back last night (or was it this morning).

We have been renting cars for the past several years both local companies and international. The best local company that we deal with is the rental car branch of Inside Vallarta. Their rentals come with insurance and they are great people to do business with. I find the best rates have been through major companies with their discount programs if you have insurance. I have a major airline platinum card just for the purpose of airfare/rental cars. Their insurance does cover Mexico and I have had no problems with the rental cars accepting the coverage.

Past three years have rented from Avis and their staff at the airport has been superb. This year got a Tsuru with air for about $437 US for the entire 2 weeks. Just watch the web sites.
