Remnants of Hurricane Dean

The hurricane would have to cross a thousand miles of land in order to hit PV.

Hurricanes once they hit land become rainstorms and dissipate. If you want truly accurate info, go to the National Hurricane Center website. www.nhc.noaa.gov

So short answer - will it affect PV? About a 95% chance or better that is unlikely.

i have to agree with everybody here.. a diffinitive answer, well you got all kinds of thoughts and ideas... but if you ask me... NOPE, NADA, but then again you never know what Mother Nature might do to us pions down here.... but it is very unlikely that the storm will venture that far across from the east coast to the west coast.... you are a LONG WAYS from the huricane....

it is really hard to say with the mountains surrounding the vallarta area, and the breezes off the bay inland may keep it pushed inland... i know what you are saying about the effects of these storms when they come ashore... we have seen more rain in the last 36 hrs than we seen in a month or more... some areas around here have gotten 6 inches of rain in the last 12 hours, one place got 1.75 inches in 34 minutes... WOW....

Before Kenna many locals said never...No way was Kenna going to come to PV or do any damage ..

The photos I have are nothing compared to some of the ones I have seen on the web but..when I look at the damage Kenna did and Kenna really was a wuss of a storm compared to Dean and others
I cannot imagine what people have been going through in the past days with all of the storms..
Thankfully when Dean hit Mexican land it did in a mostly un-inhabited area..
Probably PV will not get anything from the storm but it never hurts to prepare a bit just in case...

Just my humble...

well parts of iowa have gotten over 6 inches of rain fall just last night... and close 10 or 12 inches over the last few days, with more every night for the next 3 days... hot and humid during the day light hours, and BOOM during the night come all the thunderstorms and rains... we have three rivers right now, The Raccoon, Des Moines, and Boone Rivers are over flowing nicely right now... oh what fun....

and then our bike trails in SE Minnesota have been ruined by the huge rains and storms they got last weekend... so change of plans for labor day weekend.... :(

at seven last night a light rain
then at eight heavy downpour at a thirty degree angle westward
until one this morning five hours straight whew
starting to rain again light at seven this morning

now at seven fifteen downpour

this is one of the wettest i have seen in the forty years of vallarta...

Been reading a few things about the storm in Puerto Vallarta and area..
Lots and lots of rain..

Mikikis on another board wrote this morning about houses coming down in EL Caloso (hillside downtown) He went on to say he was told about mudslides in Misaloya.. He also mentioned that someone had died in the accident with the home in EL Caloso..

Could someone in PV or area please tell us what is going on ..
