Pharmaceuticals

I have seen mention that prescriptions can be filled in Mexico at substantially lower prices. What is needed to get a prescription filled? What pharmaceuticals are available without a script? Viagra etc? (for a friend of course, I do not need help in that area)

Some of the common antibiotics (which require a perscription in the U.S.) are also avaliable in Mexico without a perscription, but I believe that some of the \"over-the-counter\" sleeping aids found in the U.S. are not - go figure!

Actually that was a \"prescription\" not a \"perscription\". I guess that I will have to double check the credentials of my doctor!

One thing which may be of interest: My uncle-in-law, who lives in PV, needed an antibiotic injection for a tooth problem. So, he went to a pharmacy on the south side of town to buy the antibiotic and the suringe (no prescription required for either item). Then, he went next door to a small hospital and paid about 30 pesos for the nurse to professionally administer the injection. A little different than the way things work in the US, but it is apparently another option.
