we usually go to PDC - but, obviously we will not be going there any time soon!!! we like to do a winter getaway, as we live in cold and snowy cleveland. we usually travel in early february.

have been to cancun 2x (too touristy and americanized), PDC 2x (love it), zihua/troncones 1x. love being in sunny warm temps!!! we are very laid back. dont do AI. like to rome around. find a beach club or restaurant to park at all day and be served lots and lots of cold cerveza and water and snacks! we like to walk in the early AM (we are very early risers), have coffee and breakfast, read the paper, walk, then sun bathe all day long!!! we love 2 for 1 happy hrs! love to eat lots and lots of seafood also. we dont get dressed up(as we do that all the time at home to go out). any suggestions wehere to stay? not sure of which \"zone\" would suite us best.

any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated!

also - where we stay - not too picky! as long as reasonably clean, not a super long taxi ride from or to airport, porch/balcony/ love to be right on the water and spend between $30 - 90 per night.

thanks in advance.

Staying
Well I have never been to PDC but have been to Zihua & Troncones many times. You would need to get far north to find anything approaching the open space of Troncones. Bucerias would be the closest but really not comparable. Actually Bucerias has more of Mexican feeling but has been growing. The Playa de los Muertos area sounds like your best bet, but it is far far More crowded than La Ropa or Playa Madera are in Zihua with hordes of peddlers. I personally love old town, the Romantic Zone & the hill area north of Gringo Gulch. I spend minimal time at any of the major beaches preferring the small coves South of Playa Muertos. My favorite is the postage stamp beach below The Lindo Mar & Conchas Chinos hotels, Far more peaceful & good snorkeling with only a couple of peddlers hanging out. Lindo Mar is a excellent facility , mostly time share but large attractive units Chinos next door is a bit more ordinary but a adequate facility at a AAAA location. Buses stop right in front for a 10 minute trip to old town or of course lots of cabs.
hey - thanks so much for the prompt reply!! much appreciated. i think i am gonna need lots of help!

i was looking at both the playa los muertos and romantica areas. they seem like they would be our type of vacation!

i am sure you will be hearing from me again.
