What kind of ID is requires at money houses in Pvr , do you need a passport to cash travellers cheques ?As I do not have a passport this might be a problem.

I have heard stories of some cambios requiring passports and some that do not. Seldom use them, so I cannot tell you which is which.
I agree with the previous poster that ATMs are a good way to go. Personally I take enough cash to last me a few days and exchange it at the bank at the airport, which is on your left after you clear customs and the time share guys, then use the ATMs as needed.
