Weather channel says it will come on shore somewhere between PV and Tepic. Hurricane 5 now but should die down to a 4 or 3 by the time it hits landfall tomorrow afternoon or evening. At the least, heavy rains and possible mud slides.

Thank you for the information. For those of us planning to travel to the area in the near future can you give us some idea as to what shape the Puerto Vallarta and surrounding area are in and if it looks like it will affect tourism for any length of time? Also, how close to PV is San Blas?

From AP report of the hurricane, Hurricane Kenna Hits Mexico Coast:

\"Waves thundered over the coastal boulevard of the tourist city of Puerto Vallarta, 60 miles to the southwest, and swept into hotel swimming pools. Power was out for much of the city.\"

Sounds like there is flooding, downed trees and power outages.

I think we are going to have to wait until the power gets turned back on the hear from people down there.
The weather channel is showing some pictures. A lot of debris, broken windows, a few walls down around the malecon, but does not look terribly devastating. People are out walking around looking at the damage. I think you will be safe to travel on Sunday. They may still be cleaning up, but most of the resorts will probably be OK. Mud slides may be a problem in the hills. I would call 1st if you can get through tomorrow.
