Why are the beaches unsafe at night? I have never heard of this.

Why are the beaches unsafe at night? I have never heard of this.There are some bad young people, often including young girls, who roam the beaches away from crowds for easy jewelry and cash. They are non-violent but carry knives to threaten you. I have seen them in action and also determined that it was not an isolated incident.

If you want to walk with your toes in the ocean at night, do it in front of the Malecon in a group of five or more, or have part of your group on the Malecon watching.

I think the reference was referring to smelling the pot burning, meaning they already have it....therefore no \"need\" to rob someone. In my experience, no one stoned, has enough ambition to do such a thing, and therefore no worries. I think one needs to be on the lookout for crack heads, not pot heads, imho.

Many years ago, my parents told me to NEVER go on the beach at night because the snipes would come out of the ocean and get me. Guess this was wrong? What about Santa? :cry: :cry: Chuck... 8)
