First trip to Puerto Vallarta

Hi! My husband and I will be going to Puerto Vallarta on August 19th-26th. Since this is the first time we will be there I am just wondering what to expect. Will I get a tan or is it unlikely with the rainy season? What should we pack to wear? What are some places worth visiting? Are things expensive? I have no clue how much money to take? Any help will be appreciated. HELP

So far so good, but i guess like Lori asked, where are you staying at... that will also help us with other suggestions. Because if you are in Nuevo Vallarta, you are 30-45 minutes by taxi from down town and all the action, if you are in the hotel zone or down town area, then you are in great shape for walking about, close to tours, and all the fun things to do when in vallarta... SUNSCREEN... this is a tropical area, and you will burn quickly even on a cloudy day down here....
