Exchanging Canadian Dollars

Started March 8, 2004 · 3,901 views · 3 posts
We are arriving in PV March 13 and was wondering about exchanging Canadian dollars for pesos. Last time we took US down and was told that they will accept Canadian bills (not coins) on the beach at our resort (we are staying at Club Marival). Was wondering if anybody had any problems cashing Canadian Travellers cheques either at the bank or anywhere else. Also do they charge a fee at the banks for exchanging Canadian Travellers cheques to pesos?

Thanks

Re:Exchanging Canadian Dollars
I have been going to PV for years and find the best way is to use your bank card at any bank machine to withdraw pesos. I have always gotten a better rate than what was offered ANYWHERE. You also get a better rate for a larger withdrawl. I think that at $300.00 CAD you get the cheapest rate.

I agree completely with the previous post.

The best method is to use the ATM machine and withdraw the largest amount that you think you will need for your vacation within your daily limit of withdrawal at your bank. In other words, limit the number of times you make withdrawals to reduce the overall fees charged by the bank.
