Dollars are always welcome, although you have to watch what exchange rate you receive.
Larger bills (50.00 100.00) are difficult to use at a number of places.
But, I think part of the whole travel thing is to use the currency of the country you are visiting, as is enjoying the local foods, customs, people, etc.
