Related anecdote. A couple years ago we met a couple on the plane that were taking a desktop down, as luggage, just for a two week stay. They wanted to catch up on work, believe it or not. At the time I was sort of amazed they felt the need to work on their vacation. I never asked about duties, import fees etc. They did say they had taken it down the previous two years also.
