Corrupt Police?

I have been all over Mexico and the only place I have really run into crooked police officers is Tijuana. I have been to PV 5 times and never had an issue.

I wouldn´t worry too much about this. The police here in Mexico are no more corrupt than police in many countries around the world, they just don´t hide it. It can work to your advantage also. The ones in Puerto Vallarta are generally pretty good. I´ve had to pay a ´bribe´of 50 pesos for going the wrong way on a one way years ago. I could have got out of it if l had more time to argue, but hey, l was in the wrong after all. The police here run the town well, they know where their money is coming from with so many tourists here. In my neighbourhood there are often domestic disputes. If the police are called, they are very good in quickly resolving the problem, no guns pulled. Don´t worry, they´re OK.

I hope you feel better reading the positive comments about the police here in Mexico. I´ve driven from PV to many parts of Mexico, and never had a problem either. However, l would advise anyone reading this NOT to dabble in drugs of any kind. The authorities are NOT at all lenient when it comes to drugs. Just thought i´d mention this even though it´s common sense.
