Comparable to Cancun/Playa Del Carmen

I am looking for a new Mexico destination. I have been to Cancun and Playa Del Carmen, how is PV compared to them? In other words if I liked Cancun and Playa, will I like PV?

I have been to cancun before and I have to say I actually prefer Puerto Vallarta, Like the previous person said, it has all the charm of an old mexican village but has all the modern amenities. It is a beautiful place with beautiful people. Cancun I found to be very americanized, which is not really a holiday for me. I like to see culture, and Puerto Vallarta has kept theirs. I am going in april, and this will be my fourth time there. If you decide to go to PV, you really will enjoy it.

I agree with the replies already given…PV definitely has a lot of charm and culture. I’ve been to Cancun and Cozumel, but didn’t really care for them, compared to PV. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Playa Del Carmen and hope to go there some day. However, there are a lot of things that keep bringing me back to PV every year, for the last 16 years…maybe it’s the people.
If you stay at an all-inclusive, but sure to get out and about the town…there are numerous great restaurants and many things to do and see.
