Calling home?

While Im in PV I would like to be able to call home occasionally, any suggestions on the best way. I have a cell phone but would it be cheaper to call direct, or should I puchase calling cards?

I bought a 100 peso calling card that lasted me the whole week I was there. I used it twice a day for a good 15- 30 min phoning Canada. I used my satelite phone there at 1.50 per min that was expensive. So I recommend using a calling card that you can purchase at a lot of places in PV.

And the current rate for the cards to US is 55 cents/min. Not bad at all. Hotels can charge your room bill several dollars/min. in some resorts!

The calling card is the way to go. We always stop at one of the pharmacy stores and pick up a Tel-mex card. For $5.00us we can call home a few times. A lot cheaper than the $60us it cost us for 3 minutes in Jamaica from our hotel room a few years ago - yikes!!
