Birth Certificate or Passport

I have traveled to PV 7 or eight times and I have only used a Birth Certificate and ID. I have never had a problem. But I think that a passport would be easier. I just havent gotten around to getting mine yet.

get a passport there good for 10 years now. allso there are lots of places that you cant go to if you dont have a passport. and from what i have heird they want to make it every where. allso much faster, and less to worry about

You can legally get into Mexico as a U.S. citizen with an original birth certificate and picture ID (I did this my first couple trips but that was years ago). Personally with the state of the world today, I simply feel safer traveling on a passport. But if neither you or any members of your family are ever leaving the country again within the next 10 years (which is how long a passport if valid) you might not want the added expense.

We found that those with birth certicates held up the lines both in Mexico and US - passports were in/out in less than a minute - the others takes a bit more time for some reason?? Good Luck - we all had passports and it was a breeze.
