If you are transferring in the US they have been confiscating any alcohol or other liquids, even those purchased in duty free... I saw a very unhappy lady the other day... Definitely call ahead and see what the most recent rule is.

Direct flight from Canada to PV.Thanks Smitty,that is the same thing they did to us last year.They were checking for alcohol.
as long as it is in your checked baggage you should be fine. btw pack it in a ziploc bag just in case of leakage.
We came back on jan 19 with a bottle of tequila wraped in bubble wrap and then put it into the original box it came in and this was put in the middle of our suitcase. In pv. they searched our suitcase and nothing was said and in Winnipeg we declared it at customs and were sent right thru.

Flying out of PV with Westjet all alcohol had to be put in carry on.They checked everones luggage at airport to make sure there was no alcohol in checked baggage.
We flew out of PV on March 10 to Edmonton, Canada, and had our bottles wrapped very good in our checked luggage. They were opening all suitcases and we had to move our booze into our carry on. They did not want any in checked luggage.
We fly out on the 23rd of Feb back to Calgary we had liquor packed in the luggage and they just left it there guess on the agent and the day
Des and I flew back to Phoenix on the 13th. We had three bottles wrapped tightly in blankets and packed in our checked baggage. The guy checking our luggage tried to look at the bottles, found it was a huge hassle to get them out and then just took our word that it was tequila and that the bottles were sealed. we offered to unpack it for him to see but he waved us through.
One thing to remember when carrying alcohol from a foreign country - flights originating from within the US will NOT permit any liquid over 3oz - so if you plan to return to the US from PV with tequilla, you cannot catch a national connecting flight with the booze - so drink up!

Except for the 32oz/ 1liter limit set by U.S. Customs. So, if you go through U.S. Customs and you fill out the customs declaration form (and are honest) you are limited to the 32oz/1 liter per adult. Chuck...8)

You can’t take alcoholic beverages with more than 70% alcohol content (140 proof), including 95% grain alcohol and 150 proof rum, in your checked luggage.
You may take up to five liters of alcohol with alcohol content between 24% and 70% per person as checked luggage if it’s packaged in a sealable bottle or flask.

One liter (33.8 fl. oz.) of alcoholic beverages may be included in your exemption if:
* You are 21 years old.
* It is for your own use or as a gift.
* It does not violate the laws of the state in which you arrive.
Federal regulations allow you to bring back more than one liter of alcoholic beverage for personal use, but, as with extra tobacco, you will have to pay duty and Internal Revenue Service tax.
