2 fun couples in PV for the first time

Hi all,
We have had a great time reading all of the great posts and most of what we read is what helped us to decide to go to Puerto Vallarta. We are not taking our children (this is a Mommy and Daddy break) but we are going with another couple who has never been out of the country. We went to Jamaica last year and loved it. We do have a few questions if anybody who has been to PV could help with.
1.) I have been reading a lot about the crime and rip off people, are there certain places we should not go to?
2.) We want to go Parasailing any recommendations?
3.) What is the traffic and roads like there, should we rent a car or would we be better off using local transportation?
4.) Where would the best and most secluded beaches be and what can you tell me about them?
Any advice on these questions would be very helpful.

Thank you Gatita, that is very helpful. We are staying at the Club Velas Vallarta which I think is fairly close to the marina. I had heard that at some of the beaches have jelly fish problems.

You will love the Velas. This will be our 8th year there, in less then 4 months. The place is kept very well. If you are AI, you will enjoy the food at the 2 Restaurants. If you want to explore nearby, walk out, make a right and then cross the street in front of the Marriott and walk in to the Marina. Some super places to eat there. From inexpensive to expensive. A good way to spend several hours. As mentioned by another poster, the trip to the Malecon by taxi is a short one.

2foryou...beaches north of PV in Nayarit are definitely nice and less crowded...it is a bit of a cab or bus ride, but well worth the effort to spend a day up at Sayulita with a stop on the way back in Bucerias for a cervesa and tequila shrimp at one of the many beach restaurants...sonofdob.
