I think we could add to the list below and ...we all know what silver screen movie inspired travel to Puerto Vallarta... :)
Night of the Iguana

British travellers have voted Oscar winner ‘The Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring’ the film most likely to inspire us to jet off on holiday, in an Expedia.co.uk poll of 33,000 people to coincide with the start of the summer holiday ‘blockbuster season’.

Featuring stunning shots of the New Zealand landscape, Peter Jackson’s epic fantasy tale has been credited with boosting visitor levels down under. In second place came ‘Pirates of the Caribbean – The Curse of the Black Pearl’ with its blue seas and white sandy beaches encouraging people to head for the Grenadines.
Top ten films which inspire travel and locations in which they are filmed:

1. Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of The Ring, New Zealand
2. Pirates of the Caribbean – The Curse Of The Black Pearl, St Vincent and the Grenadines
3. The Beach, Thailand
4. Ocean’s Eleven, Las Vegas
5. Breakfast at Tiffany’s, New York
6. The Sound of Music, Austria
7. Brave heart, Scotland
8. Out of Africa, Kenya
9. Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom, India
10. The Talented Mr. Ripley, Italy

“Films have long inspired us to get out there and experience the world and it’s interesting to see which films, representing which destinations, people find the most enticing,” says Caroline Cartellieri, managing director of Expedia.co.uk.

“We are always trying to come up with new ways to offer our customers inspiration and ideas, which is why we’ve teamed up with LOVEFiLM this summer to offer free DVD rentals with every holiday booked. As we hit the summer blockbuster season, it will be really interesting to see which will be this season’s most inspirational travel film!’

Nice post Sylvia . :) Many films are done in my city (Toronto ) and I take great joy in watching a film and identifying Toronto or local landmarks . Canada Post mailboxes and TTC ( Toronto Transit buses/streetcars /subway) signs are sure giveaways to Canuck locations.

The one location Laurie and I will someday visit is because of TV not film . Manchester , England is where , \"Coronation Street \" and \" Life On Mars \" , are filmed . Manchester is calling our name and we will answer. :)
\"Take this Job\" - Dubuque Star Beer - Dubuque Iowa
\"Field of Dreams\" - Dyersville, Iowa
\"Twister\" - Eldora, Iowa

Some of these make me want to LEAVE iowa... just kidding...

TV show would be Magnum PI for Hawaii

Dr No for Jamaica

Just about every James Bond movie makes you want to take an adventure off into some far off land....
