anytime i go down their i purchase a calling card from one of the local stores. i was able to call long distance as well as local, the problem that i had was that i could only use it in certain public phones, i have no idea why, i probably bought the wrong kind, but i am sure if you ask they can explain it to you.
Calling cards usually need to call an 800 number. Some resorts block access to 800 numbers so you have to go to a payphone. We use the cell option because then we can receive calls while out/ Plus we can organize dinners when people are on the beach, by the pool or out shopping.
All incoming calls are free to cell phones. Not even any airtime charges. Outgoing LD calls are expensive but we save money by using Jajah to connect. Last year the phone card was about 45 cents/minute and Jajah was 28 cents.
