Just a word of warning....I know alot of people use Google for many things including finding stuff to post on this board (including myself on a daily basis for work).
This really happened last week at the medical center I am currently on assignment at. One of the women that works in the department I work in but in a different area ended up using the computer at the desk next to me for the rest of the week and it is still ongoing this week.
She went to Google to go to the website of the college she attended. She needed to order her transcripts. She typed in the name of the college and got the list that google gives you of matching sites. She read the first one on the list and it had all the listings for student services, admissions, etc. so she selected it and as with most colleges the website design is maintained by the art/graphics students and it changes with each class of students. The site was different but she assumed it was the latest design. When she clicked on it she got hard core porn and a ton of worms, viruses, etc. The IT dept. worked on the computer for a couple of days trying to clean the hard drive. Bottom line... the hard drive is fried.
She contacted the head of IT at the college and he typed in the Url, went to their site via the Url and called her back and said it is not their site, their site is fine. So she told him she had gone to it through google. He went to it through google and when he got the list he checked the URL and the first 3 sites all looked just like the college site but the URL was not correct. All 3 were corrupt sites with an incorrect url for the college.
So just a heads up when using a search engine like Google, be careful because they too can be hacked. Google immediately fixed the problem but who knows, as big as that search engine is, how many more there could be.
