This has been brought up recently ,check out ( you tube ) firework symposium ,april 20-24 in pv .looks like a great time ,4 days of worlds best fireworks here in pv. my trip for feb has been moved ,booking in sept when I come down for my b-day. how can it get any better? my firework supplier even is going just to check this out- lets try to have a meet-up then instead of our usual jan/feb meet up- I know its a year from now but we can plan some fun

Puerto Vallarta will be in the spotlight during the International Fireworks Symposium, scheduled to take place in Puerto Vallarta in April, 2009, for which preparations are already underway. Representatives from 300 countries are expected to participate.
At a recent press conference, Mayor Javier Bravo Carbajal said he had met with Mexican fireworks associations earlier this month, and the members of the national committee charged with organizing the event had been sworn in. China and Brazil were bidding for the event, but direct negotiations by Puerto Vallarta officials are bringing the event here.
Mayor Bravo made the announcement that as prelude to the international symposium, preparations are under way to host a national fireworks championship in May, with the participation of technicians and related companies. The championship will be a dry run of the International symposium, which, besides putting Puerto Vallarta in the limelight, will generate important revenues to the destination.
As to the meeting where the organizing committee was appointed, it was said that representatives from the states of Jalisco, Mexico State, Sonora, Tlaxcala, the city of Puerto Vallarta as host, represented by Tourism Director Marcelo Alcaraz and Civil Protection Unit Director Trinidad Lopez Rivas. Participants manifested their interest to get involved in the different aspects of the organization, promotion and logistics.
The organization of the May event was widely accepted, which will be held within the framework of the Puerto Vallarta anniversary festivities, and some ideas were laid out as to holding a national convention and competitions in the different specialties of fireworks.

Chance, what is the correct date of event?
Chance writes the Smposium will be April of 2009 , however further down in the posting is mentions something of this \"May Event\". Sounds like something I would like to attend but should probably block off the correct dates for being in PV. Do you think the fireworks will be in April or May?
I believe the fireworks in may of this year will be a warm-up for the big show in april of 09 -Edited 1st post as I had the dates wrong -sorry
