I usually have a book or magazine tucked away in my back pack that I take to the beach... My intentions always are to get lost in a good book but that seldom happens...
To be honest I get too distracted by the sounds of the Sea...watching clouds float by... children playing in the sand... people watching.. chatting.... yapping :) but mainly just sitting quietly..
The beach is a perfect place to daydream....There I seem to prefer getting lost in my own mind instead of the mind of an author...
But... if I were to buckle down and do more than setting a book beside me on the lounge chair..... my choice would be preferably
non fiction
Maybe like the one I am reading now Honeymoon with my brother..

Fiction list.....
Nicolas Sparks message in a bottle or any of Nicolas Sparks books
Chocolat by Joanne Harris...
Nora Roberts
List is long... love books.

Oh yeah, any of the Ian Fleming \"James Bond\" books.
Books
Three personal faves that go with me every trip:

Beach Music - Pat Conroy
Dirt Music - Tim Winton
The Painted Veil - W. Somerset Maugham

There are also several paperbacks that change from year to year, but those three books I can never get tired of.
