nobody is forcing you into anything you are not interested in!! I dont see what the big deal is!! these people are simply trying to make a living.. If you are not interested walk away!!! how hard is that????? I spent two weeks in PV in Jan, got stopped each and every day walking downtown by timeshare venders etc... how difficult is it to say \" no gracies\" and keep on walking?? If this is your reason for never returning to PV, than you should never go on vacation outside of your city!! not everyone is as fortunate as us to have such great paying jobs and very easy means to earn a living!!! get a life!!

Look ....I hear people complain all the time about this problem and the same old tired (stupid) answer keeps coming up ...Hey its Mexico , its what happens in puerto Vallarta however Puerto Vallarta survives on tourism they advertise as a great place to come and relax and I dont see anyone getting any kind of a discount to put up with the timeshare idiots.As for trying to make a living you may make your living by lying to people but I do not and the timeshare people constantly lie to unsuspecting people wasiting their valuable vacation time . I suspect that you are probably one of the timeshare sharks yourself posting under an alaias if you not your entritled to your opinion as I am mine your comment get a life sorry got one already heres one for you \"get a brain\"

Our next visit will be our 21st year, going to PV. I will admit to the T/S people being a bit of a pain, but to say it has ever ruined our vacation there would be rediculous. A simple \"No gracias or not interested \" and keep on going, ends it. I have never been tackled or restrained in any way. You will find them on the streets of PV also. There the same applies. I do not classify what they do as lying, it is just their come on. In my opinion anyone that has let it spoil their vacation, had misgivings or no desire to have a good time to start with. The much, much larger percentage of people you will encounter in PV are truly wonderful. Just get through that initial distraction, get to you Hotel, unwind and have a great vacation..

If they are just trying to make a living as you say then why the lies, we were told at the airport by the honest hard working timeshare reps that they were the taxi and tour operators as you have said and I agree if people would stop going they would probably dry up .My understanding is this is what happened in Acapulco several years ago and now the tourists no longer frequent Acapulco like they used to I would hate to see this happen in Puerto Vallarta but as you say money talks , to each his own .

I have also been to Pvr several times and although I really enjoy it I take exception to your above quote from a prvious post .They do lie they represent thenselves as what they are not, they told us flat out they were the tour operators and dont leave the area the timeshare guys are outside, we just smiled and kept walking but they do lie if this is how they \"catch\" people then people should be made aware. What I have trouble with on the timeshare issue is not the majority of ts people just trying to make a buck but hoe Pvr is allowing them to hassle people everywhere . I can understand the booths on the street and at the hotels our hotel had one and they werent alowed to leave the booth .The airport thing is the most ridiculous thing I have seen anywhere and as for timeshare reps coming up in grocery stores and restaraunts I have experienced these both and we are supposed to put up with it just because we are in PVR ? If I was in a restaraunt at home enjoying ameal and people camre up and stared selling me ts I would walk out of the place and refuse to pay for my meal , but since we are in Pvr and we are guests we are supposed to be treated like walking $ signs. No place is perfect Pvr is a great palce to go but if you save for a vacation all year and go their to relax you should not be hasssled in this way and it sgetting worse every year whats next you wont be able to leave the country unless your Mex tourist card is stamped and you have attended at least two timeshare presentations??? LOL

I think the lying is what gets me. There is NO excuse for a business person to lie. Here in the states, people go to jail. (Martha S.) The aggressiveness of the TS people can be dealt with because it is honest and you know up front what it is, but the lying just is wrong.

Check out Mogens reply in my previous post , according to a survey 70 % out of 3100 people surveyed complained of Ts promoters and many stated they would not return, it seems the Government has taken an interest and maybe their is hope for at least putting a leash on the ones at the airport .

I think timeshare salesmen should be allowed to operate out of the airport. They just need to operate out at the end of the runway (think: big jets screaming just inches above their heads). Likewise, they can operate at the cruise ship terminal as long as they stay a few feet away, on the starboard side of the ship (think: timeshare sharks frantically treading water). :-)

ok, i just got back from 10 wonderful days in PV. I have too been reading this board and the threads on timeshare people.. I must have been to a differant PV then some of you. but except for the quick run in at the airport, and that was not even that bad. i did not have a single problem with any timeshare people or tour people. I went every were. Old town, El centro, marina, Melecon I walked all over the place. I had a total of maybe 3 timeshare people come up to me and they were nice, not any problem. I keeped telling my girl freind about how bad the timeshare people are goign to be. She just keeped waiting for it and it never was a problem. And yes this was my first time to PV. SO PLEASE DO NOT BE SCARED AWAY FROM PV BECOUSE OF THE TIMESHARE PEOPLE!!!. i think the people handing you stuff on every corner of Vegas is 100 times worse then this...

I only saw one person at the airport. He was dressed like a applevaction guy. I asked the proper person outside and he told me

our vacations are way to short as it is to let these timeshare hounds get on your nerves. i know going in that they will be there but am i going to stop going to my fav. holiday destination in the world and let them ruin my vacation. we travel with our 10 year old son and when they approach us connor kindly says, \" no Gracias \" and we continue on. they have never really hounded us, once you say no firmly but politely they will leave you alone. p.v. is to great a place to let these guys bother you. m.m.

Interesting point. I would compare the timeshare hawkers to carnie barkers. It is their job and the idea is to get your attention. However it can be a long and boring job and these are people that like to talk. If you make the point that you REALLY are not interested in a tour and they are not busy most would just like the chance to talk. Most have family in the states and if not love to talk about themselves. You can get some very interesting perspectives about PV, probably a discount coupon or two and a friendly \"How are you!\" the next time you walk by. There is one gentleman that I origionally talked to over 5 years ago that still remembers me everytime I return.

How true. I always talk to these guys and have never been to a TS presentation. I really have not found the majority of these guys rude at all, most will carry on a conversation with me and let me pass without a sales pitch. I have gotten lots of maps and directions to places I needed to go, just by taking a few min. to be friendly to the \"sharks\".

ok i stay a long time in puerto vallarta if a timeshare bothers you tell him you dont have credit card you need one to get interview theres your secet they will stop right then a local american that lives there told me this try it i promise it will work love ya rob be safe

sounds familiar. i work mostly at night and jen a day time job at a currency exchange house. so we to are like 2 ships passing in the night. m.m.

My family purchased 7 nights at the Hacienda Hotel in PV. I was hospitalized and we sent them a cancellation email about 6 weeks before the date of the reservation. Their brochure states they will refund all except $30.00 US for a handling fee in the event of cancellation. They acknowledged the cancellation and stated the refund would be in the mail within 10 days.

Well this is over 1 year later. We have phoned them many times, have had assistance from the Chamber of Commerce and a Government Agency, Still no refund.

DONT GO TO THE HACIENDA HOTEL.
