The way I read it Matt was taking your side by saying that you did nothing wrong other than being assumed guilty by association. That your friend is the one who mouthed off and because you were with him they kicked your butt too.

Calling people asswipe does nothing but show that your attitude MIGHT have had alot to do with you getting your butt kicked too.

My guess is that the bar employess knew that you were American. They were most likey part Iraqi, and you Americans probaly killed there son or daughter in some air attack over Baghdad few months back and they were just angery at that. So my advise is move to Canada!
