Puerto Vallarta Launches New Cultural Heritage Center

Puerto Vallarta has inaugurated a significant new institution, the Cultural Heritage Information Center, located within the Cuale Cultural Center. This dedicated space aims to preserve, research, and disseminate the city’s rich historical and symbolic heritage. The initiative is a key component of the Municipal Culture Program, driven by Luis Munguía’s administration through the Vallarta Institute of Culture, and seeks to strengthen local identity through knowledge and collective memory.

During the opening event, Guadalupe Gómez Basulto, Director of the Vallarta Institute, announced that the new center will be guided by an advisory board comprising specialists. Juan Pablo Martínez, City and Historic Center Manager, reflected on the crucial importance of recovering oral histories and reiterated the government’s strong support for such cultural endeavors.

Councilwoman María Laurel Carrillo Ventura, who chairs the Commission for Culture and Cultural Rights, officially swore in the members of the advisory board for the 2025-2027 term. She underscored that culture is a fundamental right that must be guaranteed across all corners of the municipality. She also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of authorities, academics, and citizens in bringing this important project to fruition.
